SWEEP CHARGE EQUIPMENT & SAFETY • TANK OF LIQUID • REFRIGERANT • DO NOT: • Drop or handle tank roughly • Tamper with the safety valve • Store the tank in direct sunlight • or in a damp location • Heat the tank above 125 degrees • Heat the tank with a torch • Refill the tank • CHARGING SCALE • Used to measure refrigerant • charge • CHARGING HOSE • With ball type hand valve • Should have low-lose adaptor

SWEEP CHARGE EQUIPMENT & SAFETY • PURGING HOSE • Used to purge sealed systems • Should have low-loss adaptors • For purging non-operating systems • CLAMP ON ACCESS VALVE • Used to access the sealed system • for purging of the system • PROCESS TUBE ADAPTOR KIT • Used to attach hand valves to • various sizes of tubing • LEAK DETECTION METHODS • Bubble Solution • Electronic Leak Detector

SWEEP CHARGE EQUIPMENT & SAFETY • RECOVERY BAG • Mark bag with type of refrigerant • Never mix refrigerants • Leave purge hose hooked to bag • Fill & empty no more than 4 times • Treat the recovery bag with care • Holds 24 oz. of R12 or R500 • Holds 20 oz. Of R22 or R134a DO NOT OVER FILL THE BAG

  9. ATTACHING A TEMPORARY ACCESS VALVE (R12 & R134a SYSTEMS)

  10. PURGING THE SEALED SYSTEM WITH AN OPERATING COMPRESSOR WARM EVAPORATOR CONNECT BAG & HOSE TO DRIER WITH TEMPORARY ACCESS VALVE START COMPRESSOR RUN FOR 8 MINS. After 8 mins. remove hose & shut down compressor MAKE THE REPAIRS

  11. PURGING THE SEALED SYSTEM WITH A NON-OPERATING COMPRESSOR WARM EVAPORATOR CONNECT BAG & HOSE TO HIGH SIDE & LOW SIDE WITH TEMPORARY ACCESS VALVE CHECK BAG FOR CONTAMINATION PURGE FOR 15 MINS. WHILE HEATING THE COMPRESSOR AFTER 12 MINS. BANG COMPRESSOR 3 OR 4 TIMES After 15 mins. remove hoses & MAKE THE REPAIRS

  13. BACK FLUSHING THE SYSTEM Un-braze and isolate high-side components that will be back flushed. Remove filter-drier from system. Page 38-39

CHARGING THE SEALED SYSTEM (Refrigerators, Freezers & Under-Counter Ice Makers) Sweeping & Leak Check HEAT TANK Never over 125 degrees ZERO SCALE CONNECT TANK & HAND VALVE START THE COMPRESSOR SWEEP FOR 3 MINS SLOWLY ADD 4 OZ OF REFRIGERANT CHECK FOR LEAKS CONNECT RECOVERY BAG PURGE FOR 5MINS.

  16. CHARGING THE SEALED SYSTEM (Refrigerators, Freezers & Under-Counter Ice Makers) Final Charging HEAT TANK Never over 125 degrees CONNECT TANK & HAND VALVE SLOWLY ADD SPECIFIED CHARGE REMOVE HAND VALVE CLOSE REFRIGERANT TANK WRAP TEFLON TAPE TO ACCESS VALVE
