  2. Definition: Buying Recycled • Purchasing goods made of recycled materials.

  3. EPP vs. Buying Recycled • EPP:“Products or services that have a lesser or reduced effect on human health and the environment when compared with competing products or services that serve the same purpose…” (U.S.EPA)

  4. Why Buy Recycled? • It makes recycling work.

  5. Why Buy Recycled? • It saves natural resources. • It saves energy. • It generates less pollution.

  6. What are the possible barriers? • Cost • Change • Negative perceptions

  7. Starting a Buy Recycled Program • Review your current purchasing program. • Phase in new, “green” products. • Promote your program.
