From creating plays and cartoons in his childhood to founding Laugh-o-Gram Films, Walt's passion for storytelling led to groundbreaking success. He introduced iconic characters like Mickey Mouse and created the revolutionary cartoon Steamboat Willie. His vision culminated in the opening of Disneyland in 1955 and the conceptual Epcot. With over 100 films to his credit, Walt's influence endures in the Disney parks and movies worldwide. He passed away on December 15, 1966, leaving behind a magical legacy.

  1. Walt Disney By: Lexie Moran

  2. On December 5, 1901 Walt Disney was born. In his childhood, Walt would make plays and cartoons with one of his best friends. He moved about 2 times(to Marcilen, Missouri and Kansas City, Missouri).

  3. When Walt was 16 years old (1917), he didn’t tell the truth about how old he was so he could drive an ambulance in World War l. Soon, Walt’s ambulance was covered in cartoon drawings. Later Walt moved to Chicago to go to a art school.

  4. In 1922, Walt founded the Laugh o Gram Films. When they ran out of business, Walt went to Burbank ,California. Where he made his own business. At this time, he was 22 years old. In 1928, Walt created Mickey Mouse, soon followed Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Donald Duck, and Goofy/Dippy Dawg. Also, in 1928, Walt made Steamboat Willie. Steamboat Willie was Walt’s first successful cartoon. Steamboat Willie was one of the first cartoons with synchronized sound.

  5. Walt wanted to help out in World War ll, so he made cartoons to support the war. Later, he got married and had 2 children .

  6. Around 1950, Walt was thinking about creating Disney Land. He always wanted an amusement park that was magical. In about 1955, his dream came true. Disney Land opened on July 17th, 1955, in California.

  7. Around 1950-1960, Walt wanted a place called Epcot (Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow ) Epcot would have tons of technology. It would also be a model of a future community . Epcot opened in 1989, (after Walt died ).

  8. Walt Disney made at least 100 movies and cartoons. Here are some of them… Mary Poppins, Disneyland, The Swiss Family Robinson ,Walt Disney’s Wonderful world of color, Alice's Comedies, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs , Pinocchio(1940), Bambi(1942), and more…

  9. Walt died on December 15, 1966 , of lung cancer. He went to the hospital on November 2nd .

  10. People loved Walt’s work, so they made Disney Lands all over the world. The people also made Epcot! Walt Disney’s movies are amazing so people tried to make movies like Walt would and they made the Disney Channel.
