  2. Welcome and Check-IN Today • Session 1: Learning from our school visits + Unit Designs and Learning Sequences • Session 2: Ideas Cafes - choices • Session 3: Assessment of Learning and Learning Evaluations

Debriefing our School Visits • Stories of Practice – What is one great example of teaching and learning that you saw (personal reflecting and writing) • Form Triads – at least one secondary per group • Pass the story comments and questions – read, comment, query • Share any examples of Unit Designs/Lesson Plans/Learning Sequences you obtained

  4. Designing Units of Work • Re-visit the pre-reading. We will be referring to pages 4-8. • Underline any words or terms that are new to you • Circle any concepts that you think would take some time and effort to understand • Tick the things that are already part of your practice • * Something you’d like to try • Now sit with a partner and share your reactions to the text. Identify 2-3 things you’d like clarified a bit more. Sort on the wall.

  5. What goes into a Unit Design? Group Challenge: Using the examples (including the one from us), come up with a Unit Design structure and example drawing your experiences from yesterday. Your Unit Design will be evaluated against the criteria on page 6 by another group. Time for task – 40 mins (You will have the chance to strengthen after the Ideas Café. Evaluations will be after lunch – 10 mins per group)

Ideas Cafes • You have till 45 mins per café x 2 • Each Café has been designed with the following components • Identify the group’s questions and form smaller study groups • Choose one item to view together and one reading that is of interest to you personally • Make notes on anything that helps you gain clarity in response to your question • Share and discuss with your study group. Prepare key findings for the larger group.

  11. Revisit your Unit Designs • You have 20 mins to strengthen your design • Pair up with one other group – present your design • How has the group applied the P.6 criteria in their design – identify strengths. Offer one new idea to strengthen.

  12. Mock Interviews • In new Triads, each choose one question you’d like to respond to. (You will also be asked a second question that your interviewer comes up with) • Take 5 mins to prepare your answer and a question you’d like to ask (for when you are the interviewer). • One person asks the 2 questions, one person observes and gives feedback on the strengths of the answer. • Rotate roles

  13. Learning Journey Maps • In Table Groups – create a map of the mountains you have climbed, the rivers you have crossed and the ravines you fell into + any other wonderful escapades!!! • You have 20 minutes

  14. Final Reflections • Revisit your Learner Profiles from before the course Q 6-12 • Add to your reflections from last night if there is any more from today • Day 5-6 Insights and Connections
