  1. If You have any of your supplies, please put them in the appropriate bin in the front of the room. • Find your new seat for today. • Get out you composition notebook or a $1 to buy one. Welcome to Class!

  2. Expressions, Equations, and Inequalities Make a title page on the first page. Start numbering on the next page on the right. All right side will be odd and left side will be even. Paste or tape your calendar on page 1. Open to the first double page in your notebook. It helps if you name and date your pages, so on the right-hand side page, close to the top of the page, write “Expressions, Equations, and Inequalities- Wed., 8/24” Anything we do as a class will go on the right side (INPUT). Any reflecting, studying, personal notation will go on the left side (OUTPUT).

  3. Math Can Be FUN! Add 18 to your birth month Multiply by 25 Subtract 333 Multiply by 8 Subtract 554 Divide by 2 Add your birth day Multiply by 5 Add 692 Multiply by 20 Add only the last two digits of your birth year Subtract 32940 to get your birthday! The answer's format is: month/day/year. For example, an answer of 090449 means that I was born on September 4, 1949. If the answer is not right, you followed the directions incorrectly or lied about your birthday.

  4. On the right-side of your notebook Take your first sheet and cut along the dashed lines to get one activity for each group member. Look for patterns of similarities and differences and group your 6 cards. Check with your pod. I got 3 groups. Did your group agree with me? Expressions Equations Inequalities

  5. Divide your right-side page into thirds. Paste your cards into their proper heading Solve each card in pencil. Annotate each solution, so you can refer to it on your homework, Concept Checks, and when reviewing for tests. Back to the right-side of your notebook

  6. Expressions Equations Inequalities Check your work. One variable

  7. 2 Variables Take the next right page (page 5), turn to the next page and repeat your process with the 2 variable expressions, equations, inequalities.

  8. Expressions Equations Inequalities Check your work. Two variables

  9. Reminders • Calculators • Supplies • Name check – Who do you remember?
