  3. Government China has become a Communist state since 1949. The President of China is Wen Jiabao. The Premier of China was nominated by the President of the NPC. China’s Prime Minister is Wu Jintao (2005)

  4. Language In China the most common used language is Mandarin. In China instead of the average alphabet Chinese people use symbols that are called Ideograms. Goodbye: Zai jian How are you? : Ni hao What are those? : Na xie shi shen me? What is that? : Na shi shen me Where are you going? : Ni qu Where is she/he? : Ta zai nar? Who’s this? : Zhe shi shei?   5. Standards of living In China there are two types of colleges. There is a short-cycle college that goes on for two to three years and a regular college that goes for 4 years. China also have Private ,Public, high school and college just like us. China Standard birth rate: 13.7/ 1000 Death rate: 6.7 per. 1000 population Types of education: Private ,Public, high school and college just like us. Life expectancy: 2008: 73.18 Australia Standard birth rate: Death rate: 6.68 deaths/1,000 population Types of education: Religious school’s, Secondary, Kindergartens, University, College, Private, Public and Primary. Life expectancy:(men) 79 years (women) 84 years Airports

  6. Climate and weather In China around the south and southeast is where China’s weather is more warmer and humid. Most winters in China are cold and dry and when it is summer it becomes hot and rainy.

  7. Currency The money used in china is called Yuan. $1 comes to 1 Chinese Yuan And it’s the same for all of the other money in China like $10 = 10 Chinese Yuan $100= 100 Chinese Yuan.

  8. Traditional and modern dress Qipao is the dress for the women of China. It combines the elaborate elegance of the Chinese tradition which has unique elements with lots of style Modern dress Traditional Traditional dress Modern dress

  9. Food The most common food in China is rice. Most of their food consists of fish, rice, seaweed, lots of vegetables, soup, meat and shark-fin.

  10. Economy/Commerce China’s economy is huge! In these last 30 years in China Their economic growth has been absolutely miraculous. The economy has been growing more than 10 times during Gross Domestic Product. With the Chinese GPD, it is reaching more than 3.42 trillion U.S dollars!(2007) China has the biggest economy right after the U.S!   12. In China the children start school at the age of 3 and they then stay in pre-school until they are 6 years old. At the age of 6 they start Primary Education (school) also known as Elementary school. After they have finished elementary school they then advance to one of two different types of Secondary education, Academic or Vocational secondary Education, this prepares them for work. China does offer a higher education. The students who do attend college do have a choice of going to a short-cycle college. This goes on for two to three years, this is equivalent to an associates’ degree. Or the students could attend a regular college which lasts for 4 years, and this is equivalent to a bachelors degree. Religion The religious believers of China are allowed to follow their beliefs and their faiths as long as they don’t try to seek to convert other people. Holiday’s Typical holidays in China are 1st and 2nd that is their National day. Children’s day, June 1st, on this day the children get parties and presents. Lunar new year and the Spring festivals. And the most popular is the Chinese New Year Lifestyle The Chinese people have a very high-paced lifestyle full of work and fun. The children going to school, parents go to work or shop for supplies. But every now and then they go out to celebrations and parties. In China the streets are always packed, if it’s either a celebration or just the daily life outing or shopping. Entertainment: In China there are entertainers called “Geisha.’ The Geisha usually have white powder on their faces and wear a kimono (a Japanese dress.) Marriage In China the women don’t wear white for their wedding they wear red. They believe it’s good luck.

  14. Immigration China has taken immigrants. In the 1950’s and the 1980’s many of the emigrants migrating to the countries in the western parts were the Chinese and the people of Hong Kong.
