  1. By: Shane and Keegan Sunshine 69

  2. Lysergic Acid Diethylamide, LSD-25, or Acid. A semi synthetic [psychedelic drug. Side effects are visuals of colored patterns behind the eyes, a sense of time distortion, crawling geometric patterns. Sensitive to oxygen, ultraviolet light, and chlorine, in its pure form it is colorless, odorless, and mildly bitter. Solid or liquid form. Known as “Sunshine” LSD

  3. From “Sunshine 69” I'VE HAD THE STUFF BEFORE. Purple, blue, white, emerald. But never did it taste like this, to my tongue or my mind. Sunshine wears a belt buckle packed with a thousand or so hits of her same-named stash.

  4. Timothy Leary American writer, psychologist, futurist, and advocate of psychedelic drug research and use. Thought LSD is potentially beneficial application in psychotherapy.

  5. From “Sunshine 69” Ron is a trip in his own right . . . LSD is the key to get the Buddhists their holy land back, says he. Everything is back in place with the Brotherhood, with product again coursing through the arteries of LA, the Bay Area, and the rest of the West where it will ultimately reach all the little vessicles from Beverly Hills to Bombay. RON HAS A MAJOR SHIPMENT of the best stuff yet coming up for " Woodstock West," what the Stones' free festival is popularly being called. If everything goes well, this will be the blowout that really puts the Brotherhood on the map. The forecast for the Saturday: major mind rays and trippy skies. Did somebody say Sunshine?

  6. Ronald Stark Mysterious Figure Allegedly oversaw biggest LSD manufacturing and distribution ring in Italy, France, and Belgium. Bought approximately 35 million doses of LSD from Europe. Connections to CIA Apart of The Brotherhood of Eternal Love

  7. From “Sunshine 69” I KNEW MY FATHER WOULD SEND SOMEONE after me eventually. When I left Livermore I dyed my hair and assumed a flower girl name. I didn't expect it to be so cloak-and-dagger, but my new life must have horrified Dad's spies. ORANGE SUNSHINE. A means of getting a hop on the day and ensuring times will be tough. Orange Sunshine. Har.

  8. Mick Jagger Lead vocalist of The Rolling Stones. Music Producer Film Producer

  9. From “Sunshine 69” • WAIT, what am I leaving down here? A dead boy, beaten and bloodied? More? Do I see it or did I just think I see it? Keith says, "A gun?" No, man, that kid gets killed. I see a gun. "He got knifed." A steel knife? I'm not making sense. "Aw, babies . . . let's just cool out.“ • Clean up! What does he know. Where do we go now. "Geneva," Stu says to me, eager to get my mind off something. That's not what I meant. I want to hear the Muscle Shoals tapes again. "We'll put them on back at the hotel." The hotel. Hell. The hotel.

  10. Keith Richards One of the founding members of The Rolling Stones. Guitarist Backup Vocalist

  11. From “Sunshine 69” Mick and I develop an immunity to our crowd and crew and require some altogether new incentive to overcome, transcend, stop striving to be satisfied and win it back. Paint it, black. I DI'N KNOW IT WAS FOOL.He was floating in air. I di'n know it was fool. He thought he'd found that out-of-body astral projection a whole flock of gurus had told him about. I di'n know it was fool, the pool. He didn't know it was full.

  12. Meredith Hunter 18 years old Spectator at Altamont Free Concert. Stabbed by a Hells Angel after pulling out a gun. Flashy dresser with an afro, went to concert with his girlfriend and another couple. Autopsy revealed he was high on meth when he died.

  13. From “Sunshine 69” Then the man brought me the crazy green and while it wasn't originally what I had in mind I thought back to the joshing of the guys at the park and as a matter of fact it occurred to me I do look good in green, although this was a far cry from drab. I tried it on and it was loose but sharp, creases and cuffs falling in all the right places still giving me room to breathe. I'll take it, I said, without looking at the price. I am Meredith Hunter, the almost-dead. I am the next dead for the West Coast, in short line for the world's next dead. But could it be some of that acid's made it's way to me. . .?

  14. Alan Passaro 36 years old when he died in 1985, 21 when he stabbed Meredith Hunter. Member of Hells Angel Acquitted of charges against him because he claimed it was self-defense.

  15. From “Sunshine 69” The telegenic power required of Knife to make its mission known is exceptional when reckoned with the shield-like blare of festival music or the hum and misanthropy of three hundred thousand frightened freakies, but I must confess Knife knows no hesitancy in its grim devotions, for it sees sure as a shaman the presence of its mortal enemy, Pistol. This I did not replace with gold. If Martian Nigger knew better--what I know--you don't take Fatso too seriously. His attention span is short. This is his equivalent of mercy. He is mean but absent-minded. He's fat so he sees the world by touching it, getting in its way, rubbing up against its people.

  16. Hells Angels Motorcycle Gang Ride Harleys Carry out widespread violence, drug dealing, theft, and extortion. Founded in late 40s early 50s in California. Must be over 21, own a Harley, cannot be a child molester, or have applied to be a cop/prison guard to join the gang. They were security guards at Altamont Concert.

  17. Altamont Free Concert • Altamont Speedway • December 6th, 1969 • Organized by The Rolling Stones • Also • Santana • Jefferson Airplane • Flying Burrito Brothers (Cancelled) • Crosby, Stills, Nash, Young • Grateful Dead (Cancelled) • Four deaths

  18. Altamont Free Concert • Dates and locations moved around, not finalized until the night before. No toilets or medical tents. • No adequate sound system, bands couldn’t be heard well, stage was only 4 feet tall • Approx. 300,000 people attended • Grateful Dead cancelled after Hells Angels knocked a member of Jefferson Airplane unconscious

  19. Altamont Free Concert • Security by Hells Angels motorcycle gang • Contrasted with Woodstock • Considered the ‘last day of the 60s’ • End of the hippie era

  20. Hells Angels Security Force • Just supposed to keep people off the stage, not police. • Recommended by the Grateful Dead • One of the Angel’s motorcycles got knocked over, prompting more aggression.

  21. “Gimmie Shelter” • The concert was recorded by a documentary film crew, filming the Stones’ 1969 US Tour • The entire Altamont murder was documented in the film • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQkHndvGR4w • 3:45 – See Meredith Hunter • 9:28 see the gun
