UH-UH! MUD! THICK OOZY MUD. We took digital video and stills cameras to film the mud at North Loch. Some mud was quite firm. Some mud was very wet. Some mud was shallow. Some mud was very deep!. We experimented making mud with compost…. It was very squishy. Look! Black hands….

  2. We took digital video and stills cameras to film the mud at North Loch.

  3. Some mud was quite firm

  4. Some mud was very wet

  5. Some mud was shallow

  6. Some mud was very deep!

  7. We experimented making mud with compost….

  8. It was very squishy

  9. Look! Black hands…

  10. We experimented making mud with clay…

  11. It was very dirty work.

  12. Jackson Pollock We looked at paintings by Jackson Pollock (including ‘FULL FATHOM FIVE’). We thought that they looked like splashes of mud.

  13. We made our own splashy pictures by using a pipette to squirt black paint onto the paper, then we dragged string through the paint.

  14. We worked together to make a large squirty picture

  15. We used squeezy bottles filled with paint

  16. It was very, very messy…

  17. …but looks amazing!

  18. We then tried “Mud Bomb Painting” The paper was clean to begin with …

  19. …but got messier…

  20. …and messier…

  21. …and messier…

  22. …and messier…

  23. DONE!

  24. For our next muddy picture we changed into old shorts and t-shirts

  25. We started with a piece of clean carpet…

  26. We used our feet to paint

  27. We used our hands to paint

  28. We used our hands and feet together

  29. Our picture looked beautiful. But did we stop painting?

  30. NAH!!! - we started to roll!

  31. We painted ourselves…

  32. …and each other!

  33. And just when the adults thought that we had finished…

  34. …we began again!

  35. Eventually, we washed ourselves clean.

  36. Our picture looked very muddy and we had great fun making it.
