OPENING REMARKS • This will be my most difficult Forum to date • Planned on unveiling our new Lakefront plan tonight • But…at 10:00 this morning, I elected to take a step back and be sure we got it right before doing so
OPENING REMARKS • This was a difficult decision – but I believe it is in everyone’s best interest • Why? • We’re simply not ready • Set the date for today’s forum two months ago
OPENING REMARKS • I identified 3 key caveats to guide our planning process • Must be realistic and fundable • Take as much time as needed to get it right • When I unveil – I need to be sold
OPENING REMARKS • Bottom-line is that I’m not comfortable that we’ve met these expectations and I would rather tell you so tonight, then to roll out something that we’ll regret tomorrow

WHERE WE STAND TODAY • Completed Public Input Process • Design Charrette • Pierogi Fest kiosk • Phase 1 in progress • $2M project to bring in utilities • Funded by Feds, BP & RDA

OUR NEXT STEPS • Finalize the Plan • Get a better understanding of the projected costs • Develop a Phasing Plan • Allow for add’l features to be added as funds become available • Refine the Financial Plan
OUR NEXT STEPS • Begin Phase 1 infrastructure construction • Begin Bike Trail construction • Unveil Final Plan in 1Q 2009 • Begin construction of Phase 2 in late 2009
CLOSING • The design Charrette and planning process helped us develop the vision for our Lakefront development • We just need to take the time necessary to make sure we get it right
