Join us in an exciting project to construct a wind-powered car using recyclable or reused materials! Your goal is to design a car that travels forward, utilizing a 20-inch box fan for propulsion without any onboard systems. Ensure your car is at least 8 inches long and incorporates at least four different materials. Important rules include safely carrying a provided passenger who must see the path ahead. Embrace creativity by inventing your own wheels. Remember: lightness, low friction, and stability are key to success. Let's take this challenge to the wind!

Wind Sail Car Rules and Suggestions
Objective • Build a wind powered car from recyclable or reused materials that travels in a forward direction • No on board propulsion system • Use 20” box fan provided by instructor
Rules • Student must build a wind powered car • The car may be constructed from ANY material • Must have at least four different materials • The car must be at least 8 inches long • Staples, tape, glue and etc. DO NOT count as materials
Rules • The car must carry a passenger provided by the instructor • Passenger must see where he is going • If passenger is ejected the race stops • The car may have a seat for the passenger • Seatbelts may be used, but you may not do anything to the passenger that the instructor can not do to you
Rules • The car may roll or slide but students must “invent” their own wheels • Ask permission before taking materials
Hints and Suggestions • Lighter is better! • Less friction is better! • Cheaper is better; free is best! • Don’t waste wind • Stability is important! • Low Center of Gravity! • Simplify! Simplify! Simplify! • Experiment and test your design (car)
