The project • Raspberry Pi device • Installed inside the car • Has a camera attached • Camera watches the person driving • Raspberry Pi communicates with app on driver’s phone • App sends its data to associated website
What it does • Tracks eye movement of drivers • Alerts driver if attention is diverted • Pupils in eye aren’t facing forward • Pupils aren’t detected (eyes closed) • Collects distraction data about driver • Sends this data to the driver’s phone
The android app • User can log in to his/her own profile • Personalized data is displayed to user • How long driver looks up/down/left/right • Locations of distractions • Sends this info to associated website
The website • User can log in to his/her own profile • Personalized data is displayed to user • Similar data displayed as android app • Adds more detail/visual aid to events • Website contains administrative controls
Objective • Make people better drivers in general • Correct drivers’ bad habits • This will protect… • The driver with the device • People sharing the road with the user • Pedestrians around the driver
Other potential uses • Insurance companies • View each driver’s data • Help them decide to insure them or not • Drivers could get discounted rates for better driving data • Car rental • Drivers with better records could rent cars for discounted prices • Truck driving companies • Continued employment depends on good records • Taxi services
