  1. Dental Bridges As An Option For Dental Treatment There is a way you can smile with a renewed sense of confidence and it will not cost you a lot of money to do so. This way is with the application of crowns and a bridge added to the dental work in your mouth. What exactly are dental bridges and how do they work? A bridge is made up of two or more dental crowns along with a few false teeth which are used to fill in the blanks in your mouth where you have missing teeth. The bridge work that your dental professional makes will help you in chewing your food, keeps your natural teeth that remain in your mouth from sliding around, aids in the maintenance of your natural faces shape, as well as the most important thing, allow you to smile with confidence. The bridge can be very pricey; with these prices are all dependent upon how many teeth are involved, whether there will be any other procedures involved, what type of material will be used, and of course—the type of dental insurance coverage the patient has. In what ways does a dental bridge compare to a dental implant? The bridge does not require surgery as dental implants do; only requiring a few return visits to your dental provider to get the bridge fitted, and the main difference is that if the patient does not have healthy bone mass in their jaw line then the dental bridge would be the recommended treatment of care instead of a dental implant. When a patient is considered to be a candidate for a bridge, they must have a commitment to good oral hygiene. Because, if one of the connecting teeth becomes decayed or breaks, then the entire bridge will need repairing and there is the question of whether the patient’s dental insurance will cover the procedure a second time. The benefits of a dental bridge are: ●The bridge can re-establish ones smile to what it was prior to their tooth loss ●Reinstates one's capability to chew and talk properly. ●Preserve a person’s face to its original shape ●Ensuring the person can bite down properly ●Keeps the remaining teeth in the proper alignment so they don’t drift apart There are three main types of dental bridges available:

  2. ●There is the traditional dental bridge: this type of bridge is developed by creating a crown or implant on each side of the missing tooth or teeth and there is a pontic in between. These are the most universal types of bridges that are made with porcelain and then fused with ceramic or metal. ●Then there are the cantilever bridges: these types of bridges are use when there are only teeth on one side of the missing tooth/teeth; these are not that commonly used anymore particularly in the back of the mouth due to this type of bridge puts too much strain on the remaining teeth and can cause more damage than good to those teeth. ●The third type of dental bridge is the Maryland bonded bridge: (this type of bridge is known as a resin-bonded bridge) this bridge is made of porcelain, and fused with porcelain, metal, of plastic. It is supported by metal or porcelain, with “wings” that are attached to one side of your mouth. Whatever dental treatment you decide is best for your treatment plan, it is best decided by you and your dental professional. However, you need to ensure that your oral health and hygiene is your number one priority when choosing a dental treatment procedure.
