  1. Sober Living Homes And Rehab Facilities: Which Is Better And More Effective? T he rehabilitation of addiction or abuse can be a personal matter. For this reason, most addicts find it difficult to open up to people around them that they actually are addicted. Sometimes, this set of people finds it particularly difficult to convince themselves about their addiction. This is called self-denial. In recent times, the emergence of halfway houses in Canada has toppled rehab facilities. Since then, the comparison has been made to determine the better of the two options. Different people have different reasons for selecting a particular option but like addiction, it is a personal issue. The question is: what are the major differences? Which of the two is more effective? It can be said that Canada is a well-crafted country. Without surprise, a lot of sober living homes have emerged and they perform same functions as rehab facilities. They are suitable for both alcohol addicts and drug addicts. A huge distinction between sober living homes and rehab facilities is that absence of therapy and treatment that is a prerequisite in the addiction treatment phase. But they offer a good chance of treating addiction without replacing it with another. In sober living homes, patients who are admitted are those who have exceeded critical recovery stage. Usually, it is important to prevent the possibility of the recurrence of the vicious cycle of addiction. This is where halfway homes become essential. With an ambient and serene environment, sober living homes give a smooth transitioning to normal life to their patients. Since there is no detoxification process or counseling sessions, these home do not compare to sober living homes in any way. Furthermore, there is a mutual exclusion between rehabs and sober living homes. To receive addiction treatment, it is best to go to drug rehab centers. But halfway homes are best suited for learning a positive living style in an environment that promotes participation. This often reduces the occurrence of relapse. Substance abuse as a progressive disease requires runs in cycles. Sometimes, treatment can be ineffective such that the patient goes back into addiction later on. But a supportive environment like sober living homes breaks the cycle of addiction.

  2. After detoxification and therapy, these temporary homes are used to eliminate the recurrence of temptations or relapse. In a sober living home, there is no access to harmful substances or reminders - they completely restrain the patient. Once the patient gets used to this pattern of living, it will not be difficult to detach from the problem. With the support staff present in these homes, the patients are able to completely restrain themselves from harmful substances because of the training and support they are given. Peer support is the mantra of sober living homes. This essential concept is mostly lacked by many rehab centers. Thus, it is near impossible to cross out the significance of sober living homes as well. It is safe to conclude that both facilities are important for the complete elimination of addiction.
