  2. In the visual arts and literature, realism is a mid-19th century movement, which started in France. The realists sought to render everyday characters, situations, dilemmas, and events; all in an "accurate" (or realistic) manner. Realism began as a reaction to romanticism, in which subjects were treated idealistically. Realists tended to discard theatrical drama and classical forms of art to depict commonplace or 'realistic' themes.American Realism is an artistic movement in the USA that was active in literature, photography, and painting from 1880 to 1940.   16. Photographing in different approaches, the student must create a series of rainy window photography that depicts all of the following art movements representing their own photographic style: 1. Realism, 2. Abstract, 3. Surrealism, 4.Impressionism . • The student will use a camera. No phones to create the pictures. • The student will make the necessary editing in each photograph that reflects quality craftsmanship. • The students must post their photographs to his or her blog and label them appropriately. • The student must post their work by Monday May 4th. No extensions. • Each student will present their photographs in a final critique format. • Each student will select one photograph from the project that he or she felt was their strongest and print it in an 8 X 10 format for display. • Quality Prints are due the week of May 4th when they present their final in class.
