  3. What are we measuring? We are measuring the number of health care professionals trained through our 3-tiered renal training programme - as listed below and measured through our outcome and process measures:

Outcome measures Directly related to the aim of the project: • % of haemodialysis patients undertaking all aspects of their haemodialysis care • % of haemodialysis patients undertaking at least five aspects of their haemodialysis care • % of patients who have been asked about participating in shared haemodialysis care • % of renal unit staff who have completed the purpose-designed training programme

Yorkshire & the Humber Shared Haemodialysis Care Programme - Measures Process Measures Measuring the activities/processes introduced to achieve aim; measures of whether an activity has been accomplished: • % of staff who are enrolled on the training programme • % of patients able to establish access (putting needles into their fistula)

  7. Generically across the York and Sheffield sites, we are capturing measurements on a monthly basis. We randomly select 20 patients in total by selecting the 3rd and 6th patient that arrives for dialysis in a morning shift, afternoon shift or twilight shift or using a random number generator and audit the bed spaces. For example at York and it’s two satellite units at Easingwold and Harrogate, we measure across the three sites (8 patients in York, 6 patients in Easingwold and 6 patients in Harrogate) Of those shifts that we measure, we capture 100% of staff satisfaction levels. Also, at unit level they are keeping a log of individual patients and which specific tasks they are achieving to enable them to identify where improvements can be made.
