  1. Environmental Aspects of Remanufacturing Office Furniture Warehouse full of unwanted office furniture Using already manufactured furniture as our raw materials has many environmental benefits. The EPA estimates that businesses discard approximately 3 million tons of furniture and furnishings per year into landfills at a cost of over $100 million!  Remanufacturing just 1 workstation diverts almost 1,000 pounds of waste from a landfill. Landfill Reduction Most all of our raw materials would go to a local landfill if we didn’t use them for remanufacturing Natural Resource Conservation Petroleum Iron Ore Coal Remanufacturing also saves valuable natural resources for future generations while keeping costs low. The amount of labor, energy and raw materials required to alter an existing product during remanufacturing Is 85 to 95% less than that required to manufacture a new product.

Air & Water Quality Airborne pollutants from manufacturing can deposit back onto land and water bodies, sometimes at great distances from the source, and can be an important contributor to declining water quality.
