  1. How to Deal With Pre-Employment Student Situations By: Tara Fallik

  2. ELLIE EKUSE I have set up an job interview for Ellie Ekuse. Ellie does not call the employer to follow through. She is continually making excuses why she did not call the employer.

  3. Choices for Ellie Ekuse 1. Can call the interviewer and explain the situation. The interviewer may be impressed that the student called instead of the coordinator. 2. Ellie should speak to the coordinator and let them know what is going on and seek advice. 3. Speak to a parent and seek advice from them. Remember, most of our parents have been through this many times.

  4. The Best Choices for Ellie Ekuse The best choice for Ellie Ekuse would be to speak to the WBL Coordinator first to discuss the situation and figure out the best way to maintain a good reputation for the program as well as for the student.

  5. FREDDIE FICKLE Freddie has failed to show up at a job interview, with one of my best employers, two times. He provides good reasons for not showing up: • He could not find the building • He did not have enough Gas • Doesn’t really want the job

  6. What should Freddie Do? • Freddie should do a dry run a few days before to make sure he knows exactly where the building is. • Freddie should make sure his gas tank is filled at least one day prior to the interview to ensure he has enough gas. • Freddie should make an alternative plan to get to the interview. i.e.: public transportation, parent, taxi… • Freddie should speak to the WBL coordinator prior to the scheduled interview to let them know that he is really not interested in this type of work.

  7. Freddie’s Best Choice If Freddie is not really interested in this type of work, then he should really let the WBL coordinator know prior to setting up an interview. This will save a lot of people a lot of time. It will also allow the coordinator to put Freddie in a position that he will be happy in.

  8. SUZIE SLEEVELESS Suzie shows up to a job interview inappropriately dressed. She is wearing a tank tops with no shoulder straps, jeans that show off her mid section, and sandals with rings on all ten toes. The employer calls the school and wants to know if we are teaching students how to dress appropriately.

  9. What should Suzie Do? • Suzie should send a letter to the interviewee apologizing for her dress and explaining why she was dressed like that. • Suzie should ask for another interview with a promise that her dress will match that of an appropriate nature. • Suzie should forget about that job and learn how to dress appropriately for the next interview.

  10. Suzie’s Best Choice I think Suzie should forget about the interview and learn how to dress appropriately for the next one. I think it is too late for her to reconcile any type of mistake she made on that interview. She should work with the WBL coordinator and learn how to dress on her next interview.
