PLATON is: ●The ONLY EU financed project that targets to support and enhance the participation of innovative European small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in EU 7th Framework programme SSH priority (socio-economic research projects) ● Socio-economic research helps SMEs to spot new business opportunities and avoid threats to their business macro environment

SSH research can have great innovation potential and business impact The themes tackled by the SSH thematic priority offers SME-s thedual opportunity to operate as participants in knowledge creation as members of teams but also as recipients of knowledge putting it in application The research results can let SME-s discover some important keys for their competitiveness; they can become more aware of the internal mechanism (how employees perceive some aspects such as work environment, gender issues, internal procedures, etc) What are the benefits for SME-s? 1/2

The application of some research’s results (i.e. work conditions) in the SME-s can create a better environment and make people more productive Participating in an international project offers the opportunity to form new business partnerships and the knowledge about new markets For (innovative) SMEs SSH projects offer secure opportunities for (technological) development (creation of selfware) What are the benefits for SME-s? 2/2

What does PLATON offer to SMEs/SME groupings? • • To learn about current & future socio-economic trends • and understand the influence on their long-term • competitiveness • Be actively involved in European public debates in • issues concerning SMEs • To find cofinancing and collaboration partners to • participate in European socio-economic research • projects and networks

PLATON free services to SMEs/SME groupings • • Info-days on EU relevant calls and EU socio-economic • research field • • PLATON web page based partner search • • Networking events to bring together SMEs and • researchers • • Assistance in forming project ideas & preparing project • propsals • The development of research action plans (audits) for • highly interested SMEs to evaluate their (business) • advantages towards successful participation in FP7

  8. What does PLATON offer to researchers? PLATON offers researchers in the socio-economic field opportunities: • To expand socio-economic research with the involvement/inclusion of SMEs • To demonstrate the value and importance of socio-economic research to SMEs

How to participate in FP7 with the help of PLATON project? • To benefit from European cooperation opportunities interested organisations should go to www.platonproject.net and register •There are currently around 700 registered organisations in PLATON web database who wish to find collaboration partners to participate in FP7 •By adding your organisation to PLATON network you will automatically be visible and a potential collaboration partner to all those 700 organisations
