  1. Authentic Faith?

  2. Faith is not… • Faith is not a force or a power • Faith is not merely confidence • Faith is not wishful thinking

  3. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

  4. Faith is confidence that God is who he says He is and that He will do all He has promised to do.

  5. Hebrews 4:14,15 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

  6. Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

  7. Matthew 26:36-38 36 Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go and pray over there.” 37 And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed. 38 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.”

  8. Isaiah 53 Selected Verses He is despised and rejected by men,A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. Surely He has borne our griefsAnd carried our sorrows;Yet we esteemed Him stricken,Smitten by God, and afflicted.5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,He was bruised for our iniquities; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken.

  9. Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him;He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see the labor of His soul,[b]and be satisfied.By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many,For He shall bear their iniquities. Because He poured out His soul unto death,

  10. Matthew 26:39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”

  11. Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

  12. Mount of Blessings Page 71 The Father’s presence encircled Christ, and nothing happened to Him but that which the infinite love of the Father permitted for the blessing of the world. Here was Jesus’ source of comfort. This is our source of comfort too.

  13. Mount of Blessings Page 71 Those who have the Holy Spirit of Christ are fully able to endure with Jesus beside them. The blow that Satan aims at them falls first upon the Savior, who surrounds them with His presence. Whatever comes to them come first through Jesus. They have no need to resist evil, for Christ is their defense. Nothing can touch them except by permission of Jesus. And “all things that are permitted work together for good to them that love God”… Romans 8:28

  14. Galatians 2:16 King James Version (KJV) Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

  15. Galatians 2:16 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV) But we know that no one is made right with God by following the law. It is trusting inthe faithfulness of Jesus Christ that makes a person right with God. So we have put our faith in Christ Jesus, because we wanted to be made right with God. And we are right with him because we trusted inthe faithfulness of Jesus Christ—not because we followed the law. I can say this because no one can be made right with God by following the law.
