  1. Air Bags ! \(^~^)/ By : Yohana , Eloisa & Saul 

  2. What Is An Air Bag ?! • A safety device put inside vehicles, consisting of a cushion designed to inflate rapidly in case of an accident and positioned so as to protect passengers from being flung against the vehicle's structure.

  3. Advantages & Disadvantages ! Advantages of Airbags: * Air bags have been fixed and created for injury reduction. *Insurance offers low cost insurances for air bags protection. *Air bags have been designed to offer convenience and comfort to passengers. *Using the airbag is simple and easy in case of an accident. *Belt fixing makes air-flying trip little more comfortable and it will safely leave the passenger to the surface. Disadvantages of Airbags: *Airbags are very effective but it also has some injury risks. * It could lead to a fatal injury because if you are not belted you can be thrown across the vehicle. *Children can be injured if they are sitting in the front seat. *Resetting your deployed air bags is not possible and you can’t re-position your airbag once it is deployed.

  4. How Does An Airbag inflate ? ~ When there is an accident a signal is sent to the inflator system. The inner section of the bag contains a small sodium azide pellet, which in turn results in nitrogen gas causing the bag to inflate. How do you know when a car has an airbag ? ~ One out of every 25 vehicles inspected has had dummy systems for the side airbags and passenger airbags. Some even had no airbags at all ! ;o

  5. Technological advances ! In recent years, many airbags has been added to cars and trucks.  ~ For example: Side bags have been added to cars since the 1990’s. ~ There are also dual-depth passenger-side airbag. These bags inflate to different girths, depending on seat position.

  6. HOW LONG DO THE AIRBAGS LAST? It is generally believed within the industry that airbags are good for 10-15 years without concern. Do all new vehicles have airbags ? YES! ~ Federal regulations require all light vehicles sold in the U.S. to have airbags !

  7. WHAT ARE THEY MADE FROM? Vehicle air bags are made out of fabric, like nylon or polyamide. They are made in a way that there are tiny vents in the actual part of the material, and these allow the gas inside of the bag to slowly escape. Is it safe for elderly people to sit in the front seat ? It is usually safe as long as they are wearing a seat belt and move the seat as far back as possible. 

  8.  Are airbags safe for children?  ~ All infants and toddlers should ride in a rear-facing car safety seat until they are 2 years of age or until they reach the highest weight or height allowed by their car safety seat’s manufacturer. ~ Air bags can suffocate small children if they are in the passenger seat in case of a car accident

  9. Do airbags kill more people than they save?

  10. Can airbags be disabled? • All owners be permitted to have their driver and/or passenger air bags disabled if they know the consequences and sign an agreement. ~ A few new vehicles have factory installed cut-off switches for the passenger side air bag. This is allowed only in new vehicles that have no rear seat position or a rear seat that is too small for a rear-facing infant seat. Cut-off switches may be installed by dealers or repair shops for a passenger air bag in older vehicles that have no rear seat position or a rear seat that is too small for a rear facing infant seat.
