Boundaries without fear • The world becomes very stressful • Too many demands but the same clock • Out of 24 hours - 7 hours sleep and 10 hours of work we are left with 7 hours in which we need to perform many roles such as: parents, inlaws children, couple, friends Dr Yaron Ziv
The change in the world • Both parents need to work in order to make their living • Mobility and Mass media are in control of cultures. • Internet, computer games, DVD, IPod, CD, are integral part of the children’s world • The role of religion and tradition has declined Dr Yaron Ziv
The change in the world • Exposure to different cultures leads to a bigger frustration • Acquiring qualifications-mandatory for better jobs and salaries-a time consuming process • Increasing gap between cognitive maturity and emotional maturity • No boundaries-perceived as “freedom” Dr Yaron Ziv
The change in the world • Moving from patriarchic-traditional families to democratic- modern families; loss of respect, loss of parental authority • Feelings of frustration and loss of control • Children are more open ,blunt with no inhibitions Dr Yaron Ziv
The role of a parent • Mother and a father-biological definition based on instinct of protecting. • Parenting –psychological and educational role: teaching, leading preparing for life Dr Yaron Ziv
What is education? • Education is a process in which the child acquires cognitive, social and emotional skills that will enable him/her to adapt and to integrate in the adult society and to perform an independent life as a moral, productive citizen • (Dr Yaron Ziv) Dr Yaron Ziv
Adaptation and integration • Adaptation means having the skills to cope with stressful situations, forced change and uncertainty • Integration means having the ability to be part of a group and still maintain self- identity (yaron ziv) Dr Yaron Ziv
