  3. OU’s PrestigiousAcademic Awards • In 2000, men’s basketball player Myke Thom received the Wilson Award. • In 2002, women’s soccer player Ashley McGhee received the Distinguished Undergraduate Award.

  8. Oakland’s NCAA Leadership Conference Participants The NCAA Leadership Conference developed out of the success of the NCAA Life Skills Program. The Leadership Conference was designed under the basic premise that student-athletes are well positioned to be leaders. The first conference was held in May of 1997 and nearly 1,800 student-athletes have participated since the inception.
