Ro-103Grades GRADE MODES A – Audit • An Auditor is a student who enrolls as an observer or listener only. G – Graduate Standard Letter • Normal “A-F” letter grade for graduate students N – Undergraduate Standard Letter • Normal “A-F” letter grade for undergraduate students S – Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory – No IP • S, U, or I grade U - Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory - IP • S, U, or IP grade • IP grade is given in courses that require work beyond the semester. The use of this grade is ONLY for dissertations, thesis or project courses. It cannot be used for other courses.

Ro-103Grades LETTER GRADES Withdrawal Grades W – Withdrew Passing • This grade indicates the student withdrew beforemidpoint of the semester. • W is not included in GPA calculation. WF – Withdrew Failing • This grade indicates the student withdrew after midpoint of the semester. • WF is included in GPA calculation (equal to earning a F) WM – Withdrew Military • This grade indicates the student was allowed to withdraw at any point in the semester for military service.
Ro-103Grades LETTER GRADES Incomplete Grades IP – (In Progress) This grade indicates credit has not been given for courses that require a continuation of work beyond the semester for which the student registered. • The use of this grade is ONLY approved for dissertation, thesis hours and project courses. • This symbol cannot be substituted for an "I" (incomplete). • IP grades may not be changed to other grades. • Student must re-register for the course each term.
Ro-103Grades LETTER GRADES Incomplete Grades I – This grade indicates the student was doing satisfactory work, for non-academic reasons, was unable to meet the full requirements of the course. • An undergraduate student must complete the course requirements during the next semester of enrollment or within one year, whichever comes first • One year deadline of graduate students. • It is the responsibility of the student to seek the instructor or department chair regarding the work to be completed.
Ro-103Grades LETTER GRADES Other Grades K – This grade indicates the student was given credit for a course via credit by examination (CLEP, AP, etc.) V – This grade a student was given permission to audit a course.

Prior to Final Grade Submission Deadline (Dec. 10th Noon for Fall 2012) • Can be completed online via BanWeb • No approval necessary • Easy and convenient After the Final Grade Submission Deadline • Complete a Grade Change Request Form • Department Chair approval • Added work and inconvenient
Ro-103Grades Grade Replacement Policy (Policy is currently under review) A student may repeat a course taken at West Georgia in order to replace an earlier grade earned in a course taken Fall 1996 or later. • Grades earned in courses taken at other institutions cannot replace grades earned in here. • In courses with variable course titles, the repeated course must have the exact same title. • Beginning Summer Semester 2001, students can repeat XIDS 2001, 2002 and 2100 regardless of the titles of the courses taken. • The academic standing and graduation GPA will be based on the last attempt at all courses taken.
Ro-103Grades Academic Standards Students will be evaluated each semester on the basis of cumulative grade point average and the total number of hours attempted.
Ro-103Grades Academic Warning All students who fail to meet academic standards will be on Academic Warning the next semester of enrollment. There are three possible outcomes from a semester on Academic Warning: • (1) A student who raises his/her institutional grade point average to meet the Academic Standards will be removed from Academic Warning. • (2) A student who receives a term GPA of 2.0 but does not raise the institutional GPA enough to meet above standards, will remain on Academic Warning. • (3) A student who fails to achieve a semester grade point average of 2.0 while on Academic Warning will be placed on Academic Probation.
Ro-103Grades Academic Probation All students, who fail to meet the conditions to be removed from or stay on Academic Warning will be placed on Academic Probation the next semester of enrollment. There are three possible outcomes from a semester on Academic Probation: • (1) A student who raises his/her institutional grade point average to meet the Academic Standards will be removed from Academic Probation. • (2) A student who receives a term GPA of 2.0 but does not raise the institutional GPA enough to meet above standards, will remain on Academic Probation. • (3) A student who fails to achieve a semester GPA of 2.0 while on Academic Probation will be placed on Academic Suspension. Once on Probation, a student will not return to Academic Warning, but will remain on Academic Probation unless he/she meets outcome 1 or 3.
Ro-103Grades Academic Suspension Students who do not earn a minimum semester grade point average of 2.0 while on Academic Probation regardless of the cumulative GPA will be suspended for one semester. • Readmission on probation will be automatically allowed after one semester of suspension. • Students on one term suspension who do not make satisfactory progress after returning from an initial suspension will again be suspended, this time for one calendar year.
Ro-103Grades Academic Dismissal Students on probation after a one year suspension, who do not make a 2.0 on all work attempted in each subsequent semester of enrollment regardless of the cumulative GPA will be dismissed. • Dismissed students are eligible to return only when they have earned an associate degree • Dismissed students are eligible for Academic Renewal after a five-year absence from any post-secondary institution.
