  3. What to bring The kit list • An appropriately sized SOFT bag • T-shirts and wet shoes worn during activities (wetsuits) • Book, cards, travel games…. Valuables • Passport, EHIC cards and spending money stored in safe • Spending money for food en-route only and pocket money • Mobile phones, cameras, ipods etc brought AT YOUR OWN RISK! Medicines • Plastic bag with name on and details (information leaflet) of medication • Include paracetamol/general pain relief (headaches etc) • Hand in on departure

Travel Arrangements Outbound: 22nd July • 10.30am Arrival at Kingdown to pack coach (outside Hums) • 11.00am Coach arrives • 11.30am Depart Kingdown • 6.30pm Dover - Calais ferry • 9.00am Arrive at campsite (Monday) Inbound: 29th July • 8.30 pm Depart campsite • 10.15am Calais – Dover ferry • 3.45pm (VERY approx) Arrive Kingdown We will call from Christchurch All details TBC

The coach On the coach • Snacks for coach • Seat belts • Toilet - emergencies only! • When the coach stops • Stay on coach if it breaks down • Wait for instructions before getting off (you may need to remain on the coach or wait a safe distance away) • Stay in groups at services and know where staff will be • Get counted! • Turn the flash off on your camera • Use deodorant OUTSIDE only

  6. The ferry • Follow the leader • Listen to safety brief • Know where staff and meeting points are • Stay in groups • Be sensible – walk, be careful where you sit • Make sure you’re counted! • No alcohol • Do not use the lifts

  7. Arrival at centre • Move into tents (teachers choose tent groups) • Breakfast • Welcome talk • Introduce staff • Run through centre safety • Activities start!!

  8. Life at centre • 8am wake up call • Tents arranged in villages • Real beds • zzzzzZZZZZ - lights out 10:30pm

  9. A typical day Morning: Dart Sailing Lunch: Buffet on site Afternoon: Pico Sailing Dinner: Buffet on site Evening:‘French Affair’

  10. Other activities Swimming pool Windsurfing Raft building Kayaking White water rafting Mountain biking Visit Dune de Pula Pico sailing

  11. FOOD! Plenty of food! Buffet lunch and dinner.... MUST notify us of any dietary requirements

  12. General safety Around the site • Personal alarms in tents • 2 members of staff on duty all night every night • Get counted and registered at all times! • During down times, stay in area, ask to leave and organise a group to leave with • Carry ID cards

  13. Activity safety • Lake: non-tidal, shallow, warm • Highly trained staff (first aid qualified, CRB checked) • RYA trained staff and recognised training centres • UK AALA recognised (same procedures followed in France) • EVERYONE wears buoyancy aid • Equipment – well maintained

  14. Phoning home and behaviour • Money to buy phone card • Mobiles expensive to use abroad • In an emergency do not phone/text anybody (there will be consequences for disobeying this) – we will contact parents • Follow instructions given by Kingdown and Rockley staff • Rockley ‘pupils charter’
