    2. Postmodernism Postmodernism is not clearly defined, there are no fixed meanings to words. Postmodernism means different things to different people. Only what people think or say is the reality.

    3. History Jameson Thought that an important factor in the arrival of postmodernism was the upheavals of the 1960s, when the assumed truths of the time where brought into question and various experiments in offensive lifestyles and outlooks became prominent. For example, the minorities and people in the third world countries took up new identities on the sidelines of dominate countries.

    4. Aims of Education Giroux Stresses that ethics must be a central concern to critical education, particularly the different ethical discourses that offer student a richer fund of meanings and help them relate to diversity in a wider society. This enables students to understand how an individuals experience is influenced by different ethical discourses and how ethical relations are formed between the self an others, including others of different backgrounds, origin, and perspective.

    5. Aims Cont. The basic function of this process is to engage students in social discourse that helps them reject needless human suffering and exploitation The purpose is to develop a social sense of responsibility for others, including those considered outsiders on the margins of social life.

    6. Aims McLaren Makes the point that education should result in self- and social empowerment. He believes that students need to become educated in social and technical knowledge before they can become effective moral agents. Main point is to commit student to social And self- transformation

Methods Postmodernist note an aggressive conservatism that has taken the initiative in education, redefining the curriculum by waging the cultural war in schools against liberal and leftist ideas. Postmodernist reject distinctions between high and low culture and maintain that the popular culture ( such as entertainment media, popular novels, and rock music) is disserving of study.

    8. Methods Postmodernist spurn intellectual elites who set themselves above history and attempt get it right for the rest of the people.

    9. Curriculum From the Postmodernist critical perspectives, the issue is not simply an argument for or against a curriculum composed of established canons of knowledge, but one that remakes the meanings and use of canons of knowledge.

    10. Role of the Teacher Postmodernist call for a critical pedagogy that views teachers as cultural workers who are transformative intellectuals occupying special political and social roles. Postmodernist want to define the role of the teacher as cultural workers who produce more appropriate social ideologies and practices. Also that students should become critical and responsible members of a democracy.
