  1. The Janitor’s BoyBy Andrew Clements Presentation By Zachary, Ryan, Kevin, Caroline

  2. Summary . The main character’s are Jack and John Rankin John is Jack’s Dad. Jack is a young boy in school his dad is the janitor. Jack is embarrassed of his dad but he is also proud of his dad. Jack embarrassed of his dad because whenever Jack is near his dad in school he says hi and other kids start to laugh. Jack is proud of his dad because of his job. Later in the story Jack finds some keys and that starts the whole adventure.

  3. Recommendation • I would recommend The Janitor’s Boy by : Andrew Clements to a classmate. I would because its very descriptive. It is descriptive because instead of coming straight out saying a kid got sick he says the kid lost the disagreement with the cafeteria ravioli. Then he said the ravioli won.

  4. One Literary Passage from the Book “Jack was sitting in math class. Mrs.. Lambert was reviewing how to add fractions with different denominators. Two seats away, in the front row, Lenny Trumbull’s stomach had a disagreement with the cafeteria ravioli. The ravioli won. Without warning Lenny spread his lunch all over the green linoleum floor.”

  5. 2 WOW! connections • Nick and Jack are alike because they both are mischivious because Jack wonders off and Nick made the tropical beach in his class room. • Jack and I share that everyone says that we look like our dads but we both don’t see it.

  6. 3 WOW! questions • Why do you think the furniture in the bell tower had at least 1 cm of dust on it? • Why do you think Jack barrowed the keys without asking? • Do you think anyone had been up in the bell tower and why?

  7. The Moral • The lesson of this story, The Janitor’s Boy, is to ask before you take because if Jack asked his dad before he took the key he would have not gotten locked in the steam tunnel.

  8. Visualization

  9. Review Why We Liked It • My favorite part of the book, The Janitor’s Boy, was when Jack went into the steam tunnel and found a boy named Eddy reading a book. I liked this book because it was interesting what was going to happen later in the story. Like when Jack was stuck in the steam tunnel. When we were in the middle of the story, it was hard to take our eyes off the book.
