Scatter Plots Plots scattered everywhere Plots are going up Plots are going down
Solving Multi-steps Equations: 1.Idenify the party-goers 2.Eliminate party-goers 3.Get x (the host) alone 4.Check your solution 2x- -5=21 21+5=26 2 Divided by 2 cancel out. 26 divided by 2 is 13 So x=13 Ex: 2x=8 The 2 is the girl friend and boy friend. The x is the host. The 8 is the neighbor
Probability Theoretical probability- is what should happen in a given event. Experimental probability- is what actually occurs during the event. Independent event- is an event where the outcome of one even does not affect the second event. Dependent event- is an event where the outcome of the first even affects the outcome of the second event. Ex: Flipping a coin is a independent event Ex: Drawing a card and take one out is a dependent event
Bar Graph A bar graph displays data with vertical of horizontal bars.
Line Plots x= number of people Use a number line and x’s
Histogram Shows the number of data items that occur within each internal (Hint: bars touch)
Negative Fractions -3/5 1/2 -1/2 The bigger the negative number the smaller it’s value. -1 .60 -.50 -12 0 .50 1
Fractions to Decimal Steps: To change fractions to a decimal divide the numerator by the denominator. 2. 1/2 2÷1 To change a decimal to a percent multiply by 100 Ex: ½ x 100 or .5 x 100(move 2 places to right) 3.To change percent’s to a fraction put the % over 100 then simplify. Ex: 80%=80/100 10÷80 =8÷2=4 10÷100=10÷2=5 4.To change percent to a decimal divided by 100 Ex:80%=.8(move decimal left 2 places.)
Scientific Notation Is ways of express really big numbers or really small numbers. Ex: 25,000,000,000,000 or 0.000000000000025 Ex:2.5x10¹³(positive decimal right) 2.5x10⁻¹⁰(decimal front)
Subtracting Integers: Same – Change – Change 1.)1st number stays the same 2.)Change sign to addition 3.)Change the number after it to its opposite 4.)Use addition rule Ex:⁻3 – (⁻6) ⁻3+6=(3) Ex:10-(15) 10+⁻15=(⁻5)
Multiply and Divide Integers Signsare the same the answer is positive, signs are different the answer is negative, even number of – signs the answer is positive, odd number – signs the answer is negative.
Examples of Square Roots: √1=1 √4=2 √9=3 √16=4
20%= .2 Percent of a number 35%= .35 10%= .1 Percent Decimal
Pythagorean Theorem A²+B²=C² *Use this if you are looking for C. If you know C C²-A²=B² Hypotenuse (always longest)only works with side. Right triangles A and B make the right triangle Ex1:A²+B²=C² 6²+8²=C² 36+64=100 √100 C=10 example C 6 8
Surface Area S=2∏rh+2∏r² S=2(3)(2)10+2(3)(2²) S=120+24 S= 144cm²
