Ephesians 3:1-7 • For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) • Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
The Spirit’s Work With Man Necessitated Miracles
Review 1. God alone can read minds. 2. We cannot read minds; yet God had to communicate with us. 3. In order to communicate with us, He had to use words (1 Cor. 2:8-13). 4. Every person needed God to speak so they could know what He wanted them to do. 5. His word is the basis for all of our knowledge of His will, character and mind. 6. In Scripture no one ever “feels the Spirit” 7. In Scripture no one ever “experiences” the Spirit. 8. Even prophets only knew what was revealed (2 Sam. 7:12-14). 9. If God didn’t tell them they didn’t know (Philemon 1:15). 10. This is why God’s word is our final authority. It is all sufficient, living and active, and able to change our lives and save our souls (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21).

The Challenge For Us 1. We are reading a message provided by miracle. 2. The miracles are necessary because they don’t have the revelation. 3. The miracles are used to produce the revelation. 4. With the completion of the revelation the miracles are no longer necessary. 5. We have the revelation but we don’t have the miracles. 6. We read the revelation the miracles produced and we want what we read. 7. But they didn’t have the revelation but had the miracles. 8. We have the revelation but don’t have the miracles.

Review: The communication necessitated miracles Miracle to inform the prophet – Revelation Miracle to accurately speak it – Inspiration Miracle to convince the hearers – Confirmation False prophets claimed the Spirit – God didn’t send them. They had a test for a prophet – (Deut. 18:20-22). Paul had signs to prove his apostleship. Either one has incomplete revelation with the miracles. Or one has the complete revelation without the miracles. Next Time: What do we have?
