  2. About Pixar • Pixar is famous all around the world for its CGI animation • They are making films with program RenderMan. It’s their own product but they are selling it to another companies (price is around 3.500$) It’s usually used for creating special effects in movies (Wolwerine, Golden Compass, Lord of the rings, Beowulf, Star wars….) • They made 10 feature films so far • Their seat is in Emeryville, California, USA

The Beginning • It allstarted in 1979 when John Lasseterleft Disney andjoined a special-effectscomputerteam at LucasfilmLtd. • In 1986, thecomputergraphicdivisionwaspurchasedbySteve Jobs for 10 milion $ andbecameanindependentcompanynamed “Pixar”. At that time pixarhadabout 45 employees. • TheyinventedPixarImageComputerbut it never sold well . Therewerethreatsthatcompanywill go outofbusiness, so theystarted to do commercials fot outsidecomapnies. Theymade 71 commercials, firstofallwasnamed “Wake up” and it wasmadeforTropicana. • In 1991 Pixarmade 26$ millionworthcontractwith Disney studios. It was a 10-year 3-picturedeal. A fristmovietheyworked on wasnamedToyStory. It was a firstfully-animatedfeature film.

  4. Working with Disney • After a hugesucessofToystory in 1995, pixarreleasedanother 3D movienamedBug’s Life in 1998. It wasNo.1 in 6 internationalmarketsandmade 362 million $ worldwide. Beetweenyears 1995 and 1998 theyspendtheir time on advancingskillssuch as animatingskinandcloth • Disney andPixarhaddisagreementsaftertheproductionofToyStory 2. Eventuallytheycontinuedworkingtogetgher. Pixarwasresponsibleforcreationandproduciton, while Disney handled marketing anddistribution. Profitsweresplit 50/50 • In 2001 thenumberofemployeesreachesover 600. MonstersInc. Makesover 100$ million in 9 daysfasterthananyotheranimated film in history. • In 2003 movieFinding Nemo wasreleased .It was one ofthebestselling DVD’s worldwide. Thenumberreachedover 40 millioncopies. • In 2004 theyanimatedTheIncrediblesand in 2006 Thecars. • In year 2006 Disney boughtPixarfor 7.4 billion $
