Boom The boom is the most obviously visible part of the crane. It’s also the most important. The boom is the arm that lifts or lowers heavy materials. Depending on the type of operation, the boom can work in three different ways. Jib The jib is an extension of the crane boom with the ability to extend to greater lengths. It provides the operator with higher lifting capability.
Rotex gear This crane part can be seen under the cab or cabin. The Rotex gear allows the cab to rotate or turn the boom with the use of a hydraulic motor. Crane cabin The crane cabin or cab is located on the top deck, exactly placed on top of the Rotex gear. This crane partallows the cabin to turn or rotate. What can be seen here is the operator’s chair, electrical equipment, and control panel. This is where the operator handles the crane with the use of a joystick that controls the motion of the boom.
