  2. Enculturation in Catholic • Enculturation in catholic is when we combine Catholic’s and another culture. Mostly culture from that local place. Enculturation can be shown in the architect, decorations, language or songs.

  3. Evidence • GerejaPalasari Bali. • The interior, architect and decorations are influenced by Bali culture. This building is similar to buildings in Bali. Only in the middle, there is a cross and some catholic symbols or statues inside it. • During Christmas, the clothes of the people attending the church is ‘Kebaya’ for girls and ‘Kampuh’ for the boys.

  4. History • Long time ago, Pater Simon Buis comes to Bali as a priest. He study about Bali’s culture and language and he socialize with Hindu people. Many people comes to Tuka and it starts to get full. So at 1939, the government decided to expand that area. Pater found a chance to build a church so that catholic people can live peacefully with the Hindu people. So he built this church. At 1942 when Japan came, many Dutch people was captured and put in jail including Pater Simon Buis. When Japan lose, Pater came back to Palasari at 1947. he is shock because there are 95 catholic families. The church was too full, so he propose to add 200 hectare. It was approved and so he expands it. Now, there are only some families that attends this church. at 25 August 1960, Pater Simon Buis died in Holland.

  5. Influence The architecture of the church is similar to the Balinese temple. The roof top has the same ornaments in Hindu temple. Gereja Palasari Balinese Temple

  6. EnculturationConclusion • I think that enculturation is a good way to show our appreciation towards other’s culture. Because we combine both of the cultures together. Even though we combine 2 of those cultures, we should still keep those 2 cultures like it was before and we should found a way to combine it without disturbing it one another.
