The Florida Library Association is the state-wide membership association of libraries, their employees and supporters, and organizations and businesses providing services to libraries. Libraries & Library Service Organizations Library Employees of All Types Businesses Library Supporters

  2. What does FLA do? • Promotes Florida libraries of all types • Advocates for library funding, laws, and intellectual freedom and privacy rights • Acquaints the public and government officials with library issues

  3. Maintains relationships in the Florida library community • Provides members with • Information • Professional development • Continuing education • Collegial environment for sharing • Publications & guidelines • Platform for issues • Scholarships and recognition awards • Leadership opportunities • Networking/communication tools

  5. Advocates • Library Day event at the Florida Legislature • Professional Lobbyist • Library Day in Washington, D.C. • Legislative Committee

  6. Informs the Public & Government Officials State Representative Irv Schlossberg receiving an FLA award for his support of libraries

Maintains Relationships • American Library Association Chapter • Freedom to Read Foundation • Founding partner of the Florida Book Awards • Florida Association for Media in Education • Support legislative positions of: • College Center for Library Automation • Florida Center for Library Automation • Florida Association for Media in Education
