  4. GEO-III Outcomes • Amendment of the CBC Terms of Reference • Acceptance of CB Strategy (2007-2011) • Acceptance of CBC recommendations on WP 2007-2009 • Approval of S. Africa and UNESCO as new CBC co-chairs

GEO CB Strategy (2007-2011) • Responds to call for a strategy in 10-Year Implementation Plan • Created to focus and co-ordinate GEO CB activities • Reviews current status of initiatives and identifies priority actions: • Capacity building coordination through the GEO Web Portal. • Sustainable infrastructure e.g. GEONETCast • Strengthening networks of experts and stakeholders. • Promoting development of open source software/courseware. • Facilitating development of national and regional institutional capacity. • Engagement of, and coordination with donors. Requires strengthening of outreach activities & development of performance indicators

GEO Portal • An excellent tool to serve human, institutional and infrastructure CB activities in all SBAs • Top-level CB “requirements” are being drafted to enable access to: • EO education, training and software resources • Info on CB standards and best practise • CB co-ordination networks and expertise • Means to identify needs and match them to available funding • CB outreach materials, etc • CBC task liaison: Gordan Bridge (EUMETSAT)

GEONETCast • An example of infrastructure and human capacity building; need for institutional CB? • Can the CBC assist the ADC with GEONETCast? e.g. • Identifying CB needs of GEONETCast users • Finding donors for infrastructure provision and training • Provision of open source software and open courseware for dissemination • Etc…
