Enhancing Public Comfort: The "Care for a Chair?" Campaign in Toronto

The "Care for a Chair?" campaign in Toronto seeks to address a significant issue: the lack of comfortable, well-designed public seating along Queen Street West. Through an extensive public consultation process held from February to April 2006, residents expressed concerns over plastic benches that prioritize advertising over comfort. The 20-year contract with Astral Media aims to replace outdated benches with 2,000 new installations, ensuring no advertisements disrupt public enjoyment. This awareness campaign utilizes life-sized cardboard chair posters to engage the community in valuing public seating.
