Central Scotland Green Network

The Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN) is facilitating wood energy initiatives across 19 councils, with significant progress reported. Site visits have been completed for councils, including Clackmannanshire, Glasgow City, and Fife. Current investments may generate 120,352 MWh from 37,610 tonnes of wood fuel, requiring about £31 million and 48MW installed capacity. Viable schemes are identified, with the potential for quick payback through the Renewable Heat Incentive. Next steps include finalizing reports and obtaining council consents for tenders.

What does this mean? • 120,352MWhs is created by 37,610 tonnes of wood fuel at 35% (c15,000ha of amenity woods) • It needs about 48MWs of installed capacity – so far • It might cost around £31 million to install –so far • 62 schemes are viable over 8 Councils – so far • Average scheme is 800KW
