The Advising Process: Where Do I Start?
IPFW General Education • 6 General Education areas: • I. Linguistic/Numerical Foundations • II. Natural & Physical Sciences • III. Individual, Culture, and Society • IV. Humanistic Thought • V. Creative & Artistic Expression • VI. Critical Inquiry • N.B. State Mandates will eventually revise these current areas into six different areas: (perhaps I. English/Communication II. Math III. Natural Sciences IV. Social Sciences V. Humanities VI. ???)
Items to remember: • One IPFW Gen. Ed. Class can be in major (either Area IV or Area V) • COAS Distribution Humanities Class must be outside of major • Cultural Studies classes (double count from either G.E., Distribution, or major (e.g. L101/L102, 250/251 etc.) • Reading the “Boxes”
Residency: 32 hours earned at IPFW • 17 hours must be 200-level or above • 15 hours must be 300-level or above and be in the major • 17 + 15 = 32 hours of residency
Upper Level Hours • 300-level and above only • Both IPFW and transfer credit • 30 hours must be reached • Can include the 15 hours earned in major and counted in residency credit
