Accomplishments • 1637- Mastered Euclid’s Elements • 1639- Introduced the Mystical Hexagram • 1645- Finished Invention of the Calculator • 1653- Invented Arithmetical Triangle • 1654- Invented Theory of Probability • 1657- Wrote the Pensees or Provincial Letters • 1658- Wrote an Essay on the Cycloid

  5. Greatest Accomplishment • We believe that Pascal’s greatest accomplishment was the Calculator or Pascaline. Many people today rely on this for their occupation or every day life. It was invented in 1645. It has changed in many ways but is still very useful.

Interesting Facts • Mother died when he was 4 years old • Didn’t have any Schooling, Father thought Math unimportant • 1641- Suffered Health Problems, Delayed Work for a Year • 1650- Stopped Mathematical Study to Devote time to his Religion • 1654- Entered a Jansenist Convent at Port Royal, Started Mathematical Study when there • 1654- Almost died in a Horse Accident, Went back to Religion

  7. Blaise Pascal’s Death 1662- Got cancer from being worn out. He died in Port Royal, Paris.
