Development of Logic for Protocol and Algorithm Verification
DESCRIPTION
Explore the success of model checking in verifying circuits and protocols, and the lack of developed logics in database theory for algorithm and protocol verification for tasks like TP, logging, checkpointing, replication, and archiving.

Protocol-Checking Logic • Model-checking has had good success verifying circuits, protocols, etc. • Why has DB theory not developed logics that can help verify algorithms or protocols for TP, logging, checkpointing, replication, archiving, etc.?
Information Integration Tools • Translation among schemas is notoriously hard. Needs: • Languages for efficient description of translators. • Heuristics for deducing correspondences among schema elements. • From structure. • From data values.
