  1. Protocol-Checking Logic • Model-checking has had good success verifying circuits, protocols, etc. • Why has DB theory not developed logics that can help verify algorithms or protocols for TP, logging, checkpointing, replication, archiving, etc.?

  2. Information Integration Tools • Translation among schemas is notoriously hard. Needs: • Languages for efficient description of translators. • Heuristics for deducing correspondences among schema elements. • From structure. • From data values.
