  1. “For you to know how the plasma cutting machine works, you need to understand the meaning of the term plasma,” says the CEO of Moore machine tools. To simplify the complex term plasma, it means the fourth matter state. In most cases, you usually think matter has three states which include liquid, gas and solid. Matter will change its state when there is an energy introduction like heat. For example, ice can turn to water then vapor. However, if you increase the levels of heat, the steam will become electrically conductive and ionized, becoming plasma. A plasma cutter, therefore, uses electrically conductive gas to move energy from a power supply to a conductive material, resulting in a faster, cleaner cutting process.

  2. “Formation of a plasma arc in the plasma cutting machine starts when gasses like nitrogen, oxygen, and argon forces through the small orifice nozzle inside the torch,” says Lee Johns, a customer who owns a plasma cutter. You will have to introduce an external electric power that will produce an electric arc. This will result into a plasma jet. Lee Johns continues to say that the plasma jet will pierce through the surface and blow the molten material away. The CEO continues to state that there are several components you will access when you have this material like the plasma torch, power supply, and the arc starting console. He says that the power supply will convert AC voltage into a constant DC voltage ranging between 200 to 400 volts. The DC voltage will maintain the plasma arc when cutting. It will also regulate the required current output basing on the thickness of the material. The arc starting console provides a spark in the plasma torch for creating the plasma arc. The plasma torch, on the other hand, provides proper cooling and alignment for the consumables. The primary consumable parts required in the plasma cutting machine include the nozzle, swirl ring, and the electrode. The shielding cup is useful when improving the quality of the cut. The design of precision plasma systems undergoes engineering to produce the highest quality cuts that come from plasma.
