SRM/SRA Definitions • Safety Risk Assessment (SRA) is the risk assessment comprised of a panel of Subject Matter Experts. • Safety Risk Management (SRM) is the process of identifying hazards, analyzing and assessing the risks, and mitigating the risks. • Safety Management System (SMS) is the overall program. The FAA is implementing SMS internally (5200.11) and externally (NPRM / AC150/5200-37)

How to Get Started • Each FAA Region has an SMS Coordinator • Talk with your ADO Program Manager • Familiarize yourself with 5200.11 and the NPRM • Identify People, Processes, and Systems in your Organizational Reach (Tenants, FBOs, etc.) • Get Early Buy-in • Identify Projects in the CIP for SRA(Not just the large hubs, everyone should be doing this!)
