  4. Capital Projects 2012 to Date • TRIR of 1.42 • LWDIR of .28

  5. What are the injuries? Four hand injuries (3 cuts, one smashed fingers One hernia (lost workday)

  6. What did they have in common? • All were wearing gloves – were they the right ones for the job? • Two had their hands in the direct line of fire • Three were tool related – hammer, drill, chisel • One was retrieving materials from a laydown area

  7. What can we do? • Help contractors to understand the issue • Ask our contractors to closely evaluate glove selection • Watch for people placing their hands “in the bite” • Look at better methods for material storage

  8. Safety Initiatives • OSHA Training Initiative • CM/PM Hazmat Training • Area Lighting Initiative • Development of Construction Best Practices • Hazmat Disposal Partnership with EPO
