  2. Excluding computer science, 2006-07 data show the lowest percentage of women receiving degrees were MEs 18.1% of Bachelors Degrees are awarded to women 12.1% of Bachelors Degrees in ME are awarded to women [www.asee.org/colleges]

EWEP found high school girls have neither an understanding nor an interest in engineering Career and Academic Motivators for Girls Messages Girls Hear about Engineering • Enjoyment of one’s work • Good working environment • Making a difference • Good income • Flexibility • A challenging career • Difficult but rewarding • Using math and science to solve problems Disconnect between motivators and messages [Extraordinary Women Engineers Project, 2005]
