  1. Do now Part II – Question • Quick question – Has diversity impacted humans today, meaning are humans today different than humans 100 years ago? • Explain

  2. Homework • Chapter 10 – Agriculture, Biotechnology and the Future of Food. Read pages 252 – 257 • We will meet in the computer lab to work on the research project.

  3. New material – Chapter 10 • The standard is 2000 cal./day • Undernourished, Malnourished, over-nourished. • Kwashiorkor – Malnourished • Undernourished • Over-nourished

  4. New Material • Create two lists: • First, list what are “genetically modified organisms (GMO)”. Explain and give examples. • Second, what are the pros (one list) and cons (another list) of GMO’s.

  5. GMO’s? • We know that in many parts of the world there is certainly not enough food to feed everyone. So if that is true should the country with the greatest technology be using everything in our power to make more food available?

  6. New Material • Begin reading 252 -253stopping at We are producing…. • At your table discuss the situation with the maize in Mexico. • Where the Mexicans over-reacting or was this a legitimate issue? If so why? If not, why were they so upset? • Write down the reasons?
