Travel on an established trail with my family to West and start Homestead Act in the Great plains?. Stay in East while working a factory job that has little pay and horrible working conditions 6 days a week 12 hours a day?.

  1. Travel on an established trail with my family to West and start Homestead Act in the Great plains?...

  2. Stay in East while working a factory job that has little pay and horrible working conditions 6 days a week 12 hours a day?....

  3. Take my family to West and go all the way to California (not really knowing how to get there, just knowing the general direction) to search for gold?...

  4. Homestead Act Conditions • $10 for 160 acres of land • Having to build our own house and live on that land for 5 years. • Having to farm that land we live on for the full six years.

  5. Staying in East Conditions • The pay is little • Horrible working conditions • Bad land • Bad weather • Everyone else is leaving to go West and the town I live in now could turn into a ghost town.

  6. Searching for Gold Conditions • Have to buy tools needed to search for gold • You could spend all this money for equipment and never find gold • We aren’t really sure how to even search for gold • It’s a long travel with really no idea how to get there or where to begin to look for gold

  7. What would you do? Homestead Act Search for Gold Factory Job

  8. My Choice • Go to West and begin the Homestead Act!

  9. Why?? • $10 for 160 acres of land and all we have to do is farm that land, build a house on it and say there for 5 years. • My chances here are MUCH better than searching for gold, I could NEVER find anything and have absolutely no money at all, when here I have guaranteed money just for farming the land!
