Circle 4: Canto 7 • Terrain: Stream that empties into the Styx River • Sin: Spenders and hoarders (greedy) • Punishment: Rolling weights back and forth • How it fits the punishment: Spent money on meaningless things, are required to conduct meaningless labor • Sinners: Not specific- People who held high authority in the church • Reaction: Dante had his "heart pierced" by seeing all the Cardinals and priests • Significant people: Plutus Joanna, Lindsey, Bobby and Caleb

Circle 5: Canto 8 • Terrain: Styx River • Sin: Wrathful and sullen • Punishment: Wrathful are forced to fight above river, the sullen stay submerged • How it fits the punishment: Wrathful are angry out in the open, gloomy are sad and isolated out of other's view • Sinners: Filipio Argenti- enemy of Dante • Reaction: Dante was happy that Argentine got what he deserved, • Significant people: Phleygas- Styx River boatman Joanna, Lindsey, Bobby and Caleb

  4. City of Dis: Canto 9 • A city surrounded by iron walls that contains many tombs • Serves as a gateway to the lower part of hell Joanna, Lindsey, Bobby and Caleb

Circle 6: Canto 10 • Terrain: flat land with many tombs • Sin: heretics • Punishment: souls put in a fiery tomb • How it fits the punishment: since they did not believe in eternal life, they must endure through eternal pain and suffering • Sinners: people such as Farinata Uberti and Cavalcante Dei Cavalcante • Reaction: Dante is fearful of the furies • Significant people: Medusa and the Furies Joanna, Lindsey, Bobby and Caleb
