  1. Transit Award and Management System (TrAMS) Webinars for FTA Funding RecipientsJanuary 29, 30, 31 2014

  2. Webinar Objectives Provide an overview of the TrAMS project’s goals, scope of work, and deployment timeline. Demonstrate functionality recently developed and explain our rationale for the design choices we’ve made. Provide you with the opportunity to provide initial reaction and ask questions. This webinar focuses on post-award functionality. You can view a live demo of pre-award functionality via the link to our August 29 webinar.

  3. Key Improvements Efficiency: FTA and its grantees will be able to consolidate redundant activities and streamline grantmaking and grant management processes. Transparency: Stakeholders inside and outside FTA will be better able to understand how taxpayer dollars are awarded and disbursed for specific transit projects and services. Integrity: Improved internal controls will help ensure that grants are awarded and managed consistent with Federal requirements. Consistency: Data and information in TrAMS will match information found in related government IT systems. Flexibility: The new system can be modified more quickly, easily and cost-effectively to make improvements and respond to new directives.

  4. Key Changes Enter and account for formula program suballocations and subawards in TrAMS More clearly identify the projects funded in grants and link multiple grants to a common project. Enable an applicant to apply for multiple funding programs in a single grant. Draw down funds at the project and scope level vs. at the grant level.

  5. Strategy for Success with TrAMS Build the system in small pieces Test each piece with FTA subject matter experts (SMEs), then FTA-wide, then with grantees Improve the system from testing feedback (example: streamline applications by asking for data only once) Pilot TrAMS well ahead of the go-live date to train users & validate operations Continue to enhance the system after deployment based on actual performance data Quality is the first priority – the system must be right

  6. Development Timeline April, 2012-Began work Summer/Fall 2012-Spring/Summer of 2013-Gathered requirements, designed pre-award modules. August, 2013-Pre-award webinars Fall, 2013-Pre-award evaluation by grantees and FTA staff. Fall, 2013-Post-award functionality developed. Winter, 2014—Post-award evaluation. April, 2014—Final configuration decisions

  7. Major Steps to Deployment • Finish technical development (includes making improvements identified during testing and feedback) • Migrate existing TEAM data into TrAMS and validate the results. • Grantees will have the opportunity to confirm data has been migrated from TEAM to TrAMS. • Train grantees and FTA users on the new system and procedures. • Training to begin in 4th quarter of FY 2014 with a mix of on-site and remote training. • Help grantees setup user accounts and organizational data in TrAMS (designated recipients, association with UZAs and programs). • User access to begin in the 4th quarter of 2014.
