    3. To subtract an integer, add its additive inverse What that means to you: 6 3 means 6 + (-3) 10 16 = k means 10 + (-16) = k

    4. Subtracting a Negative Integer Subtracting a negative integer is the same as adding a positive integer. Huh? Say what? Examples: -(-5) think the opposite of 5 which is positive 5, so-(-5) = + 5 That means 12 (-5) is the same as 12 + 5 = 17
