  33. Licensing mechanism

XDS Licensing Mechanism • A license file needs to be generated for the XDS Control Center computer. • Two license server models exist: • The customer installs a central license server on a stand alone server or one of the XDS systems • Each XDS system acts as a license server • Each client must connect once to the license server to have its XDS Desktop Sharing software activated • The license server will only grant as many licenses as the customer has purchased • To that end the license server receives a license file that contains the number of licenses to be granted.

XDS Licensing Mechanism • Desktop sharing clients work with either a node locked license or a floating license. • A node locked license means that for every PC that wants to use the XDS Desktop Sharing software, a license needs to be purchased. • A floating license means that the license is released at most 1 hour after the connected laptop/workstation disconnects from the XDS display wall. The license is then available for another laptop or workstation. • The floating license mechanism only allows XDS DS from laptop to laptop when the sending laptop is connected to an XDS v3 display

Smooth integration • With Control System (like Crestron, AMX,…): saving predefined lay-outs and configurations with the XDS-100 saves a considerable amount of time > lower integration cost • In combination with a traditional Control System the XDS can be configured to work as a traditional AV multi-window processor • With : the XDS-100 interface allows to control Tandberg video conferencing systems. Note: the integration with Tandberg is only supported for specific models (see later)
