Youth Opportunity Fund • YOF grants are grants for Key Clubs to fund a service project that they’re passionate about. Any club can apply, and there is only ONE funding cycle per year. • The application must be received by October 15 each year. • Clubs may request funding assistance from $100 to $2,000. • The committee typically funds those clubs who are asking for a portion of the total cost of the project, and clubs who are working with other organizations to fund and complete the project. • Notification of the Key Club International Board’s decision will be mailed no later than January 15.
THE DUES COME BACK TO YOU. A portion of your dues fund the YOF. Out of those $11, 50 cents of that goes to YOF. How many YOF grants were from CNH – one of the biggest districts in Key Club International?!? 4
Awards granted in November 2012 to CNH Schools Gunderson High School - $315 Granite Bay High School - $100 Leland Key Club - $650 Cloverdale High School - $1800
Updates to the App • A PDF fillable is being created. • They are going to attach a budget • Trustee Zack Dameron and Betty Stearns are working on the committee to streamline the process.
Things You Need To Know! • The grant is made for club event. NOT Division events,so events for DCMs do not qualify for the grant. • Focus on projects that let you carry out actual service and not just fundraisers alone. • ELABORATE – show action impact language. Make it “fluffy”.
Example of a YOF Grant Project: Cloverdale Key Club of Division 32 was one of the three YOF Grant recipients this year. They began a project known as “Doctor Dolls”, and they would buy cloth, stuff the dolls, sew them, and deliver them to the the Oakland’s Children Hospital. They fronted the money than got money back from the YOF Grant.
More details: Application must have all signatures, or it will be rejected. Must be on time. Can be faxed! You have to “front” the money for this project. Include description of project. This application is only 2 pages! Yes, I said 2 pages! [will be PDF fillable] Use this opportunity. It’s money sitting there, waiting to be spent on service.
