Questions Posed and Answered by the Declaration of Independence • What are our inalienable rights? • What is the proper role of government? • By what authority does government exist? • Whose responsibility is it to alter or abolish a government that no longer complies with the restrictions and limitations of lawful government?

  3. QUESTIONS and ANSWERS 1. What Are Our Inalienable Rights? “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” “That all men are by nature equally free and independent, and have certain inherent rights…” (VA Constitution Art. I, Section 1)

What is the Proper Role of Government? “… all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with Certain Unalienable Rights That Among These Are Life, Liberty And The Pursuit Of Happiness.” That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men” (Declaration of Independence) “That government is, or ought to be, instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security of the people, nation or community.” (VA Constitution Art. I, Section 3)

Where does Government get its Authority? “Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”  “That all power is vested in, and consequently derived from, the people; that magistrates are their trustees and servants, and at all times amenable to them.” (VA Constitution Art. I, Section 2)

What Do We Do If Government Is No Longer Securing Our Rights or No Longer ‘Lawful’ or ‘Just’? “That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, IT IS THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO ALTER OR TO ABOLISH IT, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their safety and happiness But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, IT IS THEIR RIGHT, IT IS THEIR DUTY, TO THROW OFF SUCH GOVERNMENT, and to provide new guards for their future security.”

Virginia Constitution Article I, Section 3 Declaration of Rights And that whenever any government shall be found inadequate or contrary to these purposes*, a MAJORITY of the community hath an INDUBITABLE, UNALIENABLE, and INDEFEASIBLE right to reform, alter or abolish it, in such manner as shall be judged most conducive to the public will. *That government is, or ought to be, instituted for the common benefit, protection, and security of the people, nation or community

  8. Our Inalienable Rights "Inalienable" means: not transferable to another or incapable of being disowned, renounced, denied or rejected. The inalienable right to life, liberty and property, endowed by our Creator cannot be taken from us without our consent. The only way we can lose our rights is to give them away by CONSENT. Consent can be given without awareness (for example, through ignorance or fear, living souls give away their claim to inalienable rights)

  9. How are Inalienable Rights Lost? If our Rights Cannot be Taken Away why are Governments so well known as the biggest culprits in robbing and murdering their own citizens? • What about Nazi Germany? • WACO, Texas? • African American slavery? • What about the colonization of Palestine by the Government of Israel? • What about Communist Russia or Communist China?

SILENCE “All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.“ Thomas Jefferson • FREEDOM of SPEECH • FREE PRESS • TRUTH and TRANSPARENCY are crucial to a free republic Can you name some of the People and institutions that are established to SPEAK and be watchful, but today remains SILENT as we are robbed of more and more fundamental rights? Politicians, Media, Community leaders Pastors and preachers, sheriffs, state legislators, business owners Teachers and educators, librarians,

Factors that Lead to Loss of Rights 2)  FEAR “When the government fears the people, it is liberty.When the people fear the government, it is tyranny.” Thomas Jefferson 3)  IGNORANCE “If a nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.” – Thomas Jefferson to Charles Yancey, 1816. Factors that Lead to Loss of Rights 4) IRREVERENCE of the People Irreverence implies populace rejection of important ‘natural law’ principles such as: • sanctity of human life • faith in God • Golden Rule (“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”) • Love God, Love Your Neighbor A populace that lacks an internal law of conduct and virtue will be without that moral internal compass to alert them to evil in government or leadership wrongdoing in their community If the Good People of America cannot discern between right and wrong, NEITHER will our government Not knowing the difference between what is ‘right’ and what is ‘wrong’ the People will lack the WILL and WISDOM required to correct government corruption

Empowerment – the Power of Change The ‘Power’ to Change our Reality • The Inalienable Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness endowed to us by our Creator is more than a philosophy or a political ideology.  • The empowering and freeing notion that mankind is divinely created and endowed with ‘inalienable’ rights tantalizes the imagination and frees the mind captive to fear and worthlessness

Empowerment – the Power of Change Some Empowering Concepts • that you are endowed by the Creator of the Universe with Rights that cannot be taken away • that governments are instituted by the authority of the People to protect their rights • that government exists to serve you, protect you and ensure that you are free to pursue your dreams • that when government becomes unlawful and unjust and intends to reduce the governed to a system of despotism, we have the authority and responsibility to change or abolish that government

Changing Hearts and Minds Changes Reality • Ideas are creative.  Before anything in this physical reality, becomes reality – it is a ‘thought’ first.  • Embracing and claiming our God endowed inalienable rights will aid us in keeping government in its place. • Understanding that government derives its lawful powers from the CONSENT of the governed will positively affect our vision for the future which will ultimately help us make better choices towards a better tomorrow. “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”  Proverbs 29:18
